SENIOR CAPSTONE
The senior capstone project is one where students combine all skills and knowledge acquired over the previous 4 years. The assignment is to create and develop a retail location in downtown High Point, NC that will benefit not only the town of High Point, but also the students of the university, visitors who come for market, and draw in consumers from surrounding cities. High Point was once a booming city with a large focus on textile and furniture factories, but now has high poverty levels, 7 food deserts, and a concerning amount of empty storefronts. The goal is to create a city and environment that can sustain itself and draw in consumers for reasons other than just the furniture market.
CONCEPT
Renew is a skincare and wellness store located in the heart of downtown High Point, NC. It will create a high end presence in the city that offers a unique experience as well as services that no other retailer in the area can provide. Renew will be the only skin care and wellness retailer in the area and will offer products varying from skin and bath products for all skin types to beauty tools to pajama sets and other accessories. The store has three main features including an Instagram wall where consumers can post about their experience, a make your own essential oil bar, and an e-commerce area where consumers can go on an iPad and take a customized quiz that will tell them what products are best for their skin and they can then go find them throughout the store. The goal is to create an experience for consumers that will continue to draw them back time and time again.
In addition to the retail store, there will be a spa and treatment service located in the back of the store. The spa and treatments will be made by appointment and will offer services such as full body massages, facials, laser hair removal, chemical peels and more! During these treatments all products and tools used are also sold in the store. The idea is to promote our own products through providing an outstanding service and inspire consumers to purchase the products used.
